I love when Workday® provides a text field for a "description". The reason I love it so much is that it allows for data governance through internal documentation of usage, ownership, and who utilizes Workday® within the system. Keeping documentation internal in the system gives it a greater chance that someone will consider the documentation as they use that functionality or report. This ultimately leads to more consistent and reliable data.
Description text fields are available for things such as reports, EIBs (ways to load data or configuration into Workday® with Excel), and Student Cohorts (Workday® Student).
Simple things like the "description" can really help you maximize Workday being a techno-functional system.

Workday® Data Governance in Action
Here's an example with Student Cohorts (see image below). You can take the Workday® delivered "Find Student Cohorts" standard report, copy it and then, include this description field and complete the field with information about who, how, and when to use this report.
Once these steps are completed, hide the original standard report. Now when functional users go to the "Find Student Cohorts" report, they see this descriptive information right up front in the description field.
With this description field, report writers, who, in this example, use cohorts for consistent student segments, don't need to ask as many questions because the cohorts are documented clearly. In the event a report writer wants to change a cohort, they can be confident they know who to talk to.
